what's the processing sequence for initramfs during boot?

i wonder if there's any way to override that without ripping apart the
initramfs image and changing that script.  it's certainly not obvious
from the "nash" man page, and one would think that, for debugging
purposes, it might be nice to choose to see all the output from the
"init" script if you want.
