the 'something' was me.
the necessary understanding to fix it was made available
by willing associates.
i haven't (yet) reccommended anarchy to anyone on this list.
as i understand it, freedom _comes from_ doing your true
will (in this case, using du -s instead of du -sb) which
computers seem remarkably adept at doing (their true will).
