Ah, you just haven't watched long enough :-).

I constantly see signal breakup with pixelizing images which then go
black, and audio which starts to buzz then goes silent.

This is Comcast's highly touted "digital quality" :-). I think in this
case it means "the quality of digital crapouts is different than the
quality of analog crapouts".
