i have used same .bashrc from years back because of aliases i have built.

it contains;

[ -z $INPUTRC ] && export INPUTRC=/etc/inputrc

i do not have a '~/.inputrc'.

you might want to look at your '.bashrc' and '/etc/inputrc' files to
see just what they contain.
