I don't usually use NetworkManager, but there is a setting in System >
Administration > Network ...Then in the Devices tab, edit your eth0,
and look to see what the settings are for the first check box on each
machine, called "Controlled by NetworkManager".  I'm guessing it's not
checked for the second machine.
