new user with fc8 problem onDell 530s

I have the same machine - the way I got around this was to change the disk 
mode in the BIOS from IDE to RAID - this prevents the pre-existing MS OS booting
in dual boot mode - but then I was not interested in using Windows once F8
was running.

Would be interested to know if others had a better way to get working with
this specific machine.
