/var/log/messages is a text file that you will need to "cat" or "grep"
for information. Something like "grep -i usb /var/log/messages" and/or
"grep -i lp /var/log/messages" as root might turn up some more information.
How did you get that list of directories? I don't see that you actually
ran a command to do so.
