I think this falls in the category "220.127.116.11-12.fc8 kernel has issues"
and I'd suggest that you file a bug in Bugzilla, and to get your
system working, roll back to 18.104.22.168-137.fc8.
There has been some various issues reported with the 22.214.171.124-12.fc8
kernel, as has been debated quite a lot today on the -devel list.
