If there is no particular reason why you need to use Pulseaudio, why not 
simply disable it, by removing the package alsa-plugins-pulseaudio. By doing 
this your sound apps will now use Alsa directly as default, and Pulseaudio 
will no longer enter the equation.

Just a suggestion.
