I'd agree with using 3 as a text-only default, rather than 1. Single
mode has less security - you end up logging in as root without entering
any password. Not sure how that affects any services you might be
running which don't normally run as root.

Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. I
read messages from the public lists.
