oops. that was from recall chatting with a friend about lm-sensors.

iirc, cpu speed is handled thru settings in /proc/scale and you have to have
a module loaded for it. iirc?

anyway, iirc, lm-sensors must be running to see cpu temp and in turn 'scale'
cpu speed. [iirc]
