Cifs with no writing permissions

This works for me:
mount -t cifs -o
credentials=/etc/samba/steve.cred,exec,uid=steve,gid=steve,dir_mode=0755,file_mode=0644 //peregrine/img2 /img.peregrine
Have a look at the two mode arguments.
