Remote Desktop terminates when opening System>Preferences>Appearance

Problem: When I try to open System>Preferences>Appearance (in an attempt
to audit the current settings), my remote session is terminated.

This is repeatable using EITHER of the two remote session techniques:

1) RDP: MS client(WinXP) to Xrdp server(0.5.0-0.5.20090811cvs)
2) NX: NoMachine client(WinXP-3.4.0-5) to freenx-server(0.7.3-15).

Server machine is running Fedora 11, with "yum update" done today.

Any clues would be helpful, such as log files to peruse, etc.  I presume
the fact that both remote session approaches are affected narrows things
down a bit.  I searched the Fedora forums, and plain old Google, but was
unable to formulate a query that gave me any relevant hits.  I'm sure
the answer is out there, but I just can't find it :-(
