I think eventually Airlie will get back to making some of the older cards
work better. It just doesn't seem to be high priority right now. Not having
working 3d on any of my home systems makes it hard to properly test things
related to the games spin.

Have you tried the nomodeset kernel parameter? I use that for my rv280 based
9200. The 7200 is based on a r100 chip, but you might have some luck with that.
