is that with Kernel Mode setting active?

my situation was reverse which yours, I rebuild the xorg intel driver
version 8.1:

- booting with kernel 2.6.29 and Kernel Mode setting active X crashed at
login sesssion in kde
- booting with kernel 2.6.29 and kernel Mode setting disabled KDE
started just fine.

with the update to kernel 2.6.30.5-43 and Kernel mode setting active
KDE session no longer crashed.
so in my situation the update to 2.6.30 fixed the X crash with intel
driver 8.1, maybe the current X drivers need some updates to work with
Kernel mode setting in 2.6.30

try disabling KMS adding nomodeset to kernel options as in Release Notes
of https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/KernelModesetting
