Lost desktop on reboot

Can you clarify what you mean by "the fedora default desktop and not
mine" -- do you mean:

- You get a different desktop environment (e.g., Gnome instead of KDE),
or
- You get your desktop environment, without your customizations (your
icons and applets are not there), or
- You get your desktop environment, with a different desktop image, or
- ???

Also, how did you install? I presume that if you already have a desktop
after an installation, that this was either an upgrade install or a new
install keeping the existing /home filesystem?
