K3B won't Accept wav. files

Did you try any other mp3? Where did you get the mp3 from? Did you rip a CD? 
How did you encode it?  If it's an mp3, try to convert it to a wav file and 
see:

lame -d yourFile.mp3

..and try with the resulting wav file with K3B.
