I see your point. However, my #2 was meant to be only in the context of
forwarding FWN in the attempt to make people who don't subscribe to the
"Announce" list *aware*. Yes, it wasn't clear. I think I'm simply
saying that regular forwarding of periodic postings from other lists
should be discouraged, especially edited ones.
And, I agree with your observation about wasting resources.
