jython failure in F13

And this is what I get on my F13 box (where I originally tried jython):
java version "1.6.0_17"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.7.1) (fedora-37.b17.fc13-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode)
