Where to put local Latex *.sty files under Fedora11

Durn, it's been years, but you had to regenerate a database.  It was
texhash or mktexlsr or similar (my GoogleFu is failing). IIRC, you
create a local directory in your home folder and pass that directory
to texhash. Sorry can't be more helpful but it's been a few years.
