LVM Snapshot merging?

Does anyone know when LVM snapshot merging will be available in Fedora?

I'm looking at making some significant upgrades/updates to my systems
and the LVM snapshot feature would be really handy if merging was
available.

In lieu of having the merging capability, I had a crazy idea for a
workaround. Does anyone know what would happen if I upgraded/updated
my snapshot and then if I was happy with how it went, rsync'd the
snapshot volume back to the origin volume?

I would assume that there is a merging process in development for a
reason. Could this result in some sort of infinite loop or race
condition?
