yes, there are out of date. seeing '2010-Oct-08 21:07:45' did not appear
that would be older than what you had.

i took it to mean sha1sum was failing also.

ok.
i am currently running in scientific linux and i have not updated fedora 12
in 2 weeks, because of some deps problems i ran into.
i have to go out and take care of some personal business. when i return, i
will boot fedora 12 to see if my deps clear up and have a look at what i
have in /var/cache/yum/*.
hopefully someone can reply with something helpful while i am gone.
