Works for me. Run "xev" from a terminal and use the second mouse button
in its X window. What is printed to the terminal when you do that? You
should see:
ButtonPress event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x5600001,
root 0xf7, subw 0x0, time 1254135, (111,136), root:(1561,182),
state 0x0, button 2, same_screen YES
ButtonRelease event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x5600001,

I'm not sure how to look up EDID information from within X, but you can
check /var/log/Xorg.0.log. There should be a line in there that says
"Monitor name:".
