Thank you for that clarification. I just tried Midnight Commander in Console
mode. This time, I did NOT log in as root. I just logged in as myself, a
regular, non-priviledged user. I discovered that mouse support works the same
for me in Console mode whether I am root or not. Translation: at least on my
system, for some reason Console mouse support works perfectly in Midnight
Commander when I am logged in as a regular user.
