Well, that's an old lib. Why is your application insisting on an old lib?
Will the latest version of of it do? like
glibc-2.12.1-2.i686
which can be installed by
yum -y install glibc
If you insist on 2.8, here is a link:
http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/updates/9/i386.newkey/glibc-2.8-8.i386.rpm
