f16 and hdmi interfaces

Do you have another sound card besides the digital out in your video
card? If you do, Pulse Audio is probably defaulting to the wrong
output. You either have to make the video card the default audio
output device, or output to both devices.

A quick check using Pules Audio's Volume Control (pavucontrol)
Output Device tab should show you your audio output devices, and
what device is primary, and witch is the fallback device. I do not
remember how to set up to output to both devices. I tried it a while
back, but changed my mind and sent system sounds out the sound
card's analog output to a cheap pair of speakers. That way, I can
still hear them when the monitor goes to sleep. (I have a monitor
with HDMI inputs.)
