Weird Audacity behaviour

FWIW, I had to do a few ~2-3 hour recordings w/Audacity on a netbook
(Eee 1005HA) a couple years ago and they worked without issue.

Do you still have the original Audacity project files?  If you're
really lucky, you might see two waveforms on top of each other in
Audacity, in which case you'd be able to cut and paste one of them to
different locations or different files.
