actually, ddrescue is no where near what op is looking for. in fact he
has not made any statement about needing to rescue/recover anything,
which ddrescue is intended for.

GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file or
block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue
