I use an internal "freak-out" factor to determine if I have too much
change to afford to lose and then delta. If I haven't freaked-out in a
week, I delta anyway.

I wish my computer were here as I thought I remember k3b being able to
append. Nevertheless, I don't use open/append as I tried it once and
found that keeping track of multiple deltas on a single media generated
pilot errors. I am trying scp-ing the deltas to a second machine so I
can add READMEs and timestamps (and then burn after I've accumulated
enough to warrant it) to make it a system I can trust myself on -- but
its a low priority.

Though I see the merits in this process, I dislike tape as it is still
volatile in my book.

At this point, I am going to suggest holding off on further posts until
I get my machine back and can try things. I've got backup machines that
I was going to use for a test of F16 xfce and am debating stalling on
that to try this out. But I still want the laptop back and running as
the other machines are now potential primary machines.
Best of the holidays to you.
