The command you are looking for is:

yum list xorg-x11-drv-ati

It will show you the installed version and any other versions in the
repos you have enabled.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about the ATI proprietary driver.  Its called
Catalyst now (fglrx is the "old" proprietary driver).  They dropped
support for the older chipsets that fglrx used to support that is now
supported by the radeon driver.  If your board is supported, you might
want to give it a try.  I used to use the fglrx driver back when the
radeon support for my chipset was in its infancy and didn't yet support
3D on my chipset.  Nowadays I use the radeon driver as the 3D support
for my chipset now works.  YMMV, but it might be worth trying the
catalyst driver....  You can find it in the RPMFusion-nonfree repo.
