The consumable prices are comparable and a laser does not suffer from clogged printheads.  I had to throw away an Epson Stylus printer due to this problem.  Cleaning them is not a trival task.  If you do go with an inkjet printer, get one with replaceable print heads and plan on buying a few at purchase time.

Here, Here, on the laser printer,I'm glad I paid a little more for the 
laser over a inkjet.
I got a Samsung CLX3175FN , N stands for Network/USB printer, they also 
sell a FW, W for wireless and you can get the Print Drivers for Linux at 
the Samsung website.
