Fedora/KDE contact lists - looking for advice:

I had thought of this, but I take it that leaves one's contacts
on a google server somewhere?
I'd like to keep them on my own system.

Google does seem to have set this up in a rational way;
I wish Fedora/KDE/Kontact could take a leaf out of their book.
