No mystery here, in the original post you mentioned you use a ATI
card. Hence you don't have the nvidia library. And that error message
is indeed from mplayer. If you run mplayer from the terminal, you will
see that every time you play a movie.

You can safely ignore the message since its not relevant for your hardware.
