I have found that something like this is required
for F15 and F16 if you wish to be certain things
start correctly

Using NetworkManager by the way.

[root at naxos ~]# cat /etc/rc.d/rc.local 
#!/bin/sh
service ypbind stop; sleep 2
service autofs stop; sleep 2
service ypbind start; sleep 2
service autofs start; sleep 2


I haven't fiddled with the sleep values to minimise them

I just sit and wait - crud
