Gnome and Xfce don't play well together

The implication is that you run that command from the command line as a
user. When I run it , it runs without exiting. ps shows it is in the 
S+ state. Is that what should have happened?
Workspaces appeared but Firefox is still broken.
The only time a dog gets complimented is when he doesn't do anything. --
