I liked Gnome 2, it just allowed me to work in a way I liked (i.e. my
preference), I found Gnome 3 wouldn't easily accommodate my preferences.
XFCE is close enough to Gnome 2 and closer than anything else I've
tried. I used KDE for a short time, well before KDE 4, and found that
okay, but I simply preferred the look and feel of Gnome 2.
I like to put certain apps in certain workspaces and like them to stay
there. I found M$ Windows (long time ago, maybe it's caught up) way too
frustrating with having to minimise loads of windows just to make way
for what I wanted to do next.

If you're asking for my view, the above is part of it. If you're asking
for which way to go, then go play with a bunch of them (as seems to be
what many have suggested in previous postings).

Have fun,
Joe
