Ouch. :)  It's not so cool IMO to invent abbreviations like that
without spelling out the full "GNOME 3" to give context.
I first thought about the PowerPC family, but G3 is used for lots of
other stuff, too. Some blog writers write "GNOME 3" once and save
some typing by using G3 afterwards.
