It means the sm-client service is in a bad state. You can either
restart[1] the service or stop[2] and disable[3] it if you have no need
for sendmail.
[1] # systemctl restart sm-client.service
[2] # systemctl stop sm-client.service
[3] # systemctl disable sm-client.service
