Network Manager creates alias - F17

Here's the reported configuration

NetworkManager Tool

State: connected (global)

- Device: p3p1  [System em1] 
....

p3p1 is my ethernet device. That's correct. What I'm curious about is 
where the 'System em1' comes from.
