With other OSs, you pay for codecs, too.  And you probably pay for other
things that you don't use.  At least, with Fedora, you get to choose.

And there are external repos with free (price-wise) codecs that Fedora
can download from.  Of course, there may not be all the particular
codecs, or other things, that you want.  Simply because they're only
being written by people doing it for money.
