Everyone:

This might seem a little beyond scope to most of you, but:

Windows XP is approaching its own EOL.

Steven J. Vaughn-Nichols released this article:

http://www.zdnet.com/five-operating-system-alternatives-to-windows-8-and-xp-7000013765/?s_cid=e539

at ZDNet: Five OS alternatives to Windows 8 and Windows XP. And they
are, in his view:

5. Using AndroidOS or iOS in a tablet. (In his view: /not/ for the
"information producer." Looking things up is one thing. But creating the
things for others to look up is quite another.)

4. Mac

3. Linux

2. Google ChromeOS, which he describes as the Chrome browser running
on a bare-bones Linux desktop and accessing Google's SaaS offerings.

1. Windows 7. Interesting: he doesn't recommend going all the way to
Windows 8.

And at the bottom, he adds this:

(Quote)

You should keep in mind that in the long run, it appears Microsoft
really does want to switch you over to a Metro-style interface as part
of the "evolution" of Windows 8. If that idea gives you hives, then now
is the time to start looking for alternatives.
