I think the best thing you can do here is accept the fact that you can't 
win.  Anything that goes wrong is going to be laid at your feet, but the 
BIL will get the credit for whatever goes well.  Unless you have very 
good reasons not to, I'd recommend updating your resume and finding your 
next job before they decide to fire you for something the BIL did.
