Why is Fedora-19-alpha so extremely slow?

Allegedly, on or about 24 April 2013, Joe Zeff sent:

I've never seen the associated errors people have discussed regarding
SYSFONT=True (i.e. stalled boots). My /boot/grub2.grub.cfg file has
always had:

   SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16

in the kernel parameters, as far as I'm aware, yet my /etc/default/grub
file contains:

   GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rd.md=0 rd.lvm=0 rd.dm=0 SYSFONT=True  KEYTABLE=us rd.luks=0 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 quiet"

I don't recall if it's always been like that, or whether it had ever
changed. The only change that I've made to it, was to remove rhgb from
near the end of the list, though I've not yet installed a new kernel,
for that change to propagate through. So, if the SYSFONT=True has been
a recent change behind the scenes, I don't know what did it. It's owned
by grub2-tools, and that's install date is well before the last kernel
update.

My kernel updates get installed along with other software updates when I
periodically do "yum update" on the command line, and they manage that
all by themselves - I don't have to do anything else, by hand, to deal
with kernel updates, like some people have mentioned.

On a related note, looking up SYSFONT=True came up with a bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=799401 which mentioned
looking for a SYSFONT=True in /etc/sysconfig/i18n, but I don't see it
there, either.  Mine's simply:

  LANG="en_AU.UTF-8"
  SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

I was beginning to wonder whether the defaults/grub file was supposed to
mention a specific font file, as a verbose list of what commands to put
on the kernel line, or just set a flag regarding where to get font
details from.
