iirc, and with my chemo memory not messing with my recall too badly,
there is a way to add error messages from a prog to logging.

problem is, i do not recall exactly what procedure is to do so. (bwg)

i would imagine a web search can/should/would show procedure.

also, i can try a few web searches, can not at this time as i was headed
out door for lunch with a friend, after checking email for another reply.

i will check email again on return to see if you found anything, or if
someone comes up with solution.

we will be out about an hour, 2 at most.

in meantime, something else you might try to see what is killing yum's
background ops, run yumex with less packages. like 10 at a time and
selecting only packages that are good up to point of where problem
occurs.

another thing, may save some brain strain, check yumex site for error
info and faq's.

you can also run web search against yumex site to limit your search.
