do you have "yumex" or "[yumex]"?

is it preceded with spaces?

what fedora release?

what desktop? what release/version?

do you normally run yumex as a desktop program or from a terminal?

if same release, are you and jim at same update stage?

_all_ are variables that may/can/could/will make a difference.

"assume" nothing.
