Preventing resolv.conf from being recreated

How is your server's network configured? Since you removed
NetworkManager it seems so. When you entered your network information to
the configuration files, the name servers ip's and domain goes to the
resolv.conf. Everytime you reboot that information gets recreated to
allow your server to communicate. Without it you would need an extensive
hosts file.
