Do people still install from CDs ?

I tried installing Fedora-18 KDE Live on a USB stick with liveusb-creator,
which this wiki recommends, but on re-booting I got the message 
"Missing operating system".

I managed to install the ISO with
  livecd-iso-to-disk --format --reset-mbr /tmp/Fedora-18*.iso /dev/sdb1
