How to use a sound theme?

How do I go about switching to a different sound theme?

Gnome's control center only lets me choose one of four lame sounds from  
/usr/share/sounds/gnome/default/alerts.

I have a whole bunch of complete sound themes in /usr/share/sounds, but I  
can't figure out how to use them in F18.
