R graphics in F18 (x86_64, Huge blocker for me)

I don't know about R-core, but X.org output for me took a big hit with
the "upgrade" to f18.  I'm getting long waits for simple operations to
complete and things like this are showing up in /var/log/messages.
Might this be your problem too?
