Being a BOFH, I prefer one of two variations:

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach him how to fish and if he's still hungry, it's not your problem 
any longer.

Or, for the terminally slow to learn:

Give a hungry man an electric eel and he'll never be hungry again.
